My husband, John "Kim" Stephenson, and I started this company in 1991 after Kim spent several years in the underground utilities industry working for a reputable contractor at the time. After having our first daughter, we were determined to set out on our own and make a name for ourselves as a strong competitor in the utilities sector. We both had always had the entrepreneurial spirit but Kim distinguished AMS as a competitor in the contracting world with his expertise in the industry, his love for those he worked with, and his lifelong passion for working in the field. The photo above on the right was taken when Kim was probably 5 or 6 years old standing on a back hoe with his father who also worked in the construction/utilities field for most of his life.

We completed our first contract officially in 1992 for Cincinnati Gas and Electric (CG&E) and have since solidified strong working relationships with the utility providers in the Greater Cincinnati area including: Duke Energy, Cincinnati Bell, Spectrum, Level 3 Communications, and AT&T.

It amazes me every day that AMS has grown so much - from a small family business to an organization with over 250 employees. We started out with just a few shovels and enough equipment and trucks to help us get by on our first couple of projects. Our company logo has not changed much over the years to remind us of our roots and the strong values that have allowed us to succeed through our hard work and resourcefulness.  These values in addition to our commitment to safety, expertise, and efficiency guide our pursuits for future successful projects.
